For years, NIT Goa operated from a temporary campus in Farmagudi. That has changed.
- Permanent Campus: The institute has shifted to its massive 114-acre permanent campus in Cuncolim, South Goa (inaugurated in Feb 2024).
- Infrastructure: The new campus features state-of-the-art labs, a dedicated “Knowledge Centre,” and modern hostels with a capacity of 1,500+ students.
- Connectivity: It is located about 40 minutes from Margao Railway Station and approx 1 hour from Goa International Airport (Dabolim).

Policy Status for 2026 Batch:
NIT Goa is one of the few NITs that still allows branch sliding.
- The Rule: You can change your branch after the 1st Year (End of 2nd Semester).
- Criteria:
- You must clear all 1st-year credits in the first attempt (No backlogs).
- You must secure a CGPA ≥ 8.5 at the end of the 2nd Semester.
- Why this matters: If you join Civil or Mechanical, you have a genuine shot at upgrading to ECE or EEE if you study well in the first year.

“NIT Goa is a rapidly rising institute. The New Campus solves its biggest historical drawback (infrastructure). While the Highest Package (₹20 LPA) isn’t headline-grabbing like NIT Warangal, the Placement Percentage (88%+) is very safe. If you want a modern campus, decent placements, and the Branch Change safety net, this is a solid choice for ranks between 20k-45k.”
