NIT Andhra Pradesh is the 31st and youngest NIT, established to cater to the residuary state of AP after bifurcation. Unlike many new NITs still struggling with transit campuses, NIT AP functions 100% from its permanent campus in Tadepalligudem.
- Infrastructure: The 172-acre campus boasts modern hostels, academic blocks, and a central library built using rapid pre-fab technology.
- Connectivity:
- Rail: Just 3 km from Tadepalligudem Railway Station (on the busy Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam line).

Policy Status for 2026:
NIT Andhra Pradesh has ABOLISHED the Branch Change option.
The official policy states: “Branch change option has been removed… change of branch after admission is not possible.”
- The Reality: The branch you choose in JoSAA/CSAB is frozen. You cannot join Biotechnology or Metallurgy with the hope of upgrading to CSE or ECE after the first year.
- Strategy: Be very specific with your choice filling. If you are tech-focused, ensure you secure a circuit branch (CSE/ECE/EEE) directly during counseling.
