NIT Puducherry (NITPy) is one of the ten new NITs sanctioned in 2009. It is situated in Karaikal, a coastal town about 130 km south of Puducherry city.
- Campus: The institute operates from its permanent 256-acre campus, which is lush green and features modern infrastructure including a new Science Block and upcoming Sports Complex.
- Quota Speciality: Unlike other NITs, the 50% Home State Quota here is shared between candidates from Puducherry and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. This makes it a primary choice for island students.
