🏛️ The Bihta Campus Transformation

NIT Patna is in the middle of a historic transition. The new 125-acre Bihta Campus (approx. 40 km from Patna city) is partially operational.

  • What moves to Bihta? Most B.Tech departments (CSE, ECE, EEE, Mech) are shifting to this modern, spacious campus.
  • What stays in Patna? The Civil Engineering and Architecture departments, along with 1st-year classes, generally operate from the iconic Ashok Rajpath campus.
  • Impact: The new campus solves the space crunch issue, offering world-class hostels, labs, and sports facilities.

⚠️ CRITICAL UPDATE: No Branch Change

Policy Status for 2026:

NIT Patna has discontinued the Branch Change facility.

According to the latest academic regulations (Clause No. 7), there is no provision for changing your branch after the first year.

  • Implication: The branch you choose during JoSAA counseling is final. Do not take Civil hoping to switch to CSE later.
